Red Thread Games Newsletter #3: November 2025

Yes, it’s us again!

We’re back with another newsletter, the third in one year and also the third in TEN years. How does that even work? Mathematical!

We plan to make this newsletter a monthly thing, and we might get there eventually. And you can help! Your feedback is valuable to us, so please share your thoughts and ideas about what you want to see in our newsletter — preferably on Discord, but you can also send us email.

And as always, if you don’t want to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe by scrolling to the bottom — but we hope you stick around!

So Tokyo Game Show happened

Hello Sunshine made its first public appearance at the Norwegian Games booth in the main hall, alongside a handful of great games you should definitely check out.

Watching players step into the world of Hello Sunshine for the very first time was unnerving and frankly terrifying, but also exciting and encouraging. And TGS was definitely the place to do it. The feedback from players was overwhelmingly positive — including some press. (Article in Norwegian; you can ask your browser to translate.)

Our booth featured two demo stations: one for solo play, one for co-op. Some people played alone, some teamed up, and many died from exposure or dehydration. (Sorry about that.)

Showcasing a game at TGS is a ton of work, especially when you don’t speak the language (and none of us do) but we think the game spoke for itself — and we also had some assistance from a couple of local students over the weekend, when the show was open to the public. They did an amazing job!

The day before the show, still under construction. Will our booth be ready in time??

Yes!! Early morning day one, and the team on the ground is ready for action. Game director Jonathan and lead programmer Audun are dressed to impress, in custom tees. (We might do a giveaway at some point.)

Our colourful Sunny-buttons and winning smiles drew the crowds in…

…but it was the game that kept players engaged and the lines long — especially the split screen co-op station, which was constantly busy.

A successful Tokyo Game Show is over for this year…but we hope to return in 2026!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by — and to TGS, Tokyo, and all of Japan for hosting us (and serving us amazing food).

ありがとうございます!

Dreamfall Chapters turns eleven!

October 21 marked the 11th anniversary of the Steam release of Dreamfall Chapters: Book One, and to celebrate the occasion we’re hosting a special livestream on Discord.

Join writer/director Ragnar Tørnquist as we play through the opening hour of Book One, while answering questions, providing unscripted commentary, sharing stories and probably a few secrets we weren’t supposed to tell you (as we most likely struggle to remember how to play the game).

Join us LIVE in the stage channel to watch, chat, and celebrate with our community — beginning at 18:00 (6 pm) CET on Wednesday 5 November.

Thank you so much for subscribing, reading, and supporting us through another month of making video games.

(Yes: games, plural. We’ll share more soon. Stay tuned!)
